Reese Witherspoon started seriously pursuing an acting career after she enrolled at Stanford University. Early successes were with films like Pleasantville, Election and Legally Blonde. It was her portrayal as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde's box office smash that marked the beginning of her acting career.
