Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin was born in Winnipeg and raised in Wellington. She was the first actress to make her acting debut in Flora McGrath, her character in the romance film The Piano. Paquin, born in Winnipeg and raised by Wellington Paquin's father, was first seen on stage as Flora McGrath. For this part, she was awarded an Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress in the romantic drama The Piano at the young age of 11. The actress is second-youngest winner in Oscar History. Following her move into the United States, she became a teenager. Paquin started her acting career in the midst of her childhood with a character in the Jane Eyre title character in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre as well as a major part in Fly Away Home. Paquin was in the role of Frankie Addams, a character in Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 her character was the Spanish queen in a smaller part. The role she played was for teenagers in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000). In addition, she played the role of a teen girl named Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
